Uploadmanager.EU & SSL

As mentioned earlier, Uploadmanager has the .EU and a certificate for secured transfer (SSL).

For an even greater security while transferring confidential files, you can now connect to your Uploadmanager via the following URL: https://www.uploadmanager.eu

What is SSL & HTTPS ?

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a protocol that provides secure exchanges on Internet. This system allows the secure exchange of information between two computers.

SSL works according to a client-server mode. It has four security objectives:

  • authentication of the server
  • confidentiality of exchanged data (or numbered session)
  • integrity of exchanged data
  • Optionally, the authentication or strong authentication of the client with the use of a numeric certificate.

How does the SSL protocol secure the communications?

Thanks to:

  • An asymmetric cipher system (such as RSA or Diffie-Hellman). It is used to produce the main key that will then produce session keys.
  • A symmetric cipher system (DES, 3DES, IDEA, RC4...) that uses session keys to cipher data.
  • A message cryptographic signature system (HMAC, using MD5, SHA...) to ensure that messages are not corrupt.

It is during the SSL negotiation that the client and the server choose a system (asymmetric, symmetric, signature and length of the key).

In your navigator, you will see a list of systems used when you place your pointer on the lock when you are on an HTTPS page.
